THE MALAY WEDDING STORY...
In the akad nikah ceremony, the marital vows of the Ijab and
Kabul are exchanged in the house of the bride in the presence
of the tok kadi. The groom's hand is held by the tok kadi when
the Ijab and Kabul are recited as a signifier of his agreement to
the conditions of the marriage.

The witnesses will then affirm the authenticity of the vows
before the tok kadi reads the prayer for safety and well-being
for the newlyweds. The akad nikah completes the marriage as required by Islam.
